"Hurray" On Video On Trial
|
Hey guys! I hope your holidays are going well, I know I'm enjoying my sleep  Just to let you all know, Kalan's video for "Hurray" was featured on MuchMusic's Video On Trial: Oh Canada, which basically just means all the featured videos were Canadian. And Kalan made it on, and I must say he didn't get much of a critique as the grandma did, lol. However Trevor Boris did ask Kalan out on national TV, so there's a reason to watch if any. Check your local listings for the week, because as we all know, MuchMusic loves their reruns.  |

Busking, Unflattering Angles, and Website Shizz (new blog!)

Hey
Hoped to blog about this last night...
But ended up in the studio late....
Anyways... first of all
Thanks to everybody that came out to the Eaton Centre for "Busking for Change" Monday.
The event was a huge success.
And I made the cover of Toronto 24 Hours.
Here is a terribly scanned picture of myself… and a little of Chris’ mane (the real star of the show).
Tad nostrilly for my liking...
But what can you do.
The real issue here is...
Paris and Benji are taking a break!!! OMG!!!

Busking for Change (new blog!)

On Monday November 24th...
I'm going to be hanging out in the Toronto Eaton Centre...
Busking for charity...
Its part of a great event called "Busking for Change" put on by the organization WAR CHILD.
All proceeds help War Child and Aldo’s Spring Shoes rebuild schools and provide access to education in war torn Africa.
We thought it was a better idea than dressing up as Santa and shaking bells for hours on end...
'Irritate for Change' just didn't have the same ring
I'll be at the mall’s Trinity Way at 12 noon…
And am going to be jammin', signing, and shamelessly begging for money.
Bring all your spare change...
Its such a great cause…
Plus... with the state the music industry lately... learning to busk could come in handy for us musicians

Thanks for the birthday messages…
I had a super chill birthday…
I’m
getting to the age where drinking yourself into a drunken stupor
doesn’t necessarily seem like the ideal way to spend the day of your
birth.
But…
Going out for a nice dinner and eating yourself into a near comatose state…
Now that’s where it’s at!
We went to a posh steak house, serving the finest of Alberta beef of course, and ate, drank, and became merry.
All and all... a great bday.
Didn’t get what I asked for though.
I wanted a pony…
Just cause last year I forgot to put air holes in the box
R.I.P. Rainbow Dash
Whatever… I’m holding out for Santa…
For the next month or so… I’m gonna be writing like a… person that writes a lot
I’m trying to get a good chunk of songs demoed before Christmas.
I’ve got a little over a month.
Anyways… thanks again for the birthday messages and gifts…
And have a great weekend
I think I might go out this weekend for a birthday celebration with a bigger group of friends…

Overdue Blog (Kalan writes, carves pumpkin, doesn't shave, and more!)

"Okay okay....
This is a little overdue...
Won't happen again...
If there were late fees on blogs... I would drop this one through the 'quick return' slot and never go to that store again.
Sometimes I just run out of things to talk about...
And its not like I can write... 'Today I got up and wrote lyrics for 10 hours straight and then recorded and then went to sleep the end.'
So I thought I would give you a list of what I've been up to in the last few weeks...
1)Wrote 5 new songs... and don't even hate them yet
2) Debuted my new temporary website... check it out www.kalanporter.com
3)Bought a new TV and a Blue Ray player... Last Sunday I watched the entire Planet Earth series... without leaving the couch once, an achievement I am quite proud of.
4)Carved a pumpkin and realized I hate carving pumpkins.
5)Didn't fix my Myspace because I have no idea what’s wrong....
Did I mention I loooove Myspace...
Sooo user friendly
Adding extra o's means I'm lying
6)Cleaned my new hooouse
7)Got some amazing birthday gifts from fans...
If you were part of the gift giving groups.... thank you so much...
I can hardly manage to get my own family birthday gifts...
Last year I gave my sister a homemade coupon for hugs...
She didn't redeem...
8)Went to a family wedding...
I hope they were registered at the Kalan Hug Store
9)Didn't shave... cause I'm growing facial hair remember
Puberty is fun
10)Watched lots of CNN
Is it wrong that I'm oddly attracted to Candy Crowley?
She could be my senior political analyst any day...
11)Went to the doctor....
It turned out to be just a rash
Pheww...

And that’s about it....
As I'm writing and recording I will try and blog more often....
I was thinking of maybe starting to do some audio blogs... kinda like a podcast... but just on my website.
